           Nestled along the coast between Lunada Bay and Palos Verdes Drive South (Beginning at Hawthorne Blvd.) is the region of West Palos Verdes.  Here you will find four main housing developments: Point Vicente, Lunada Pointe, Oceanfront, and The Enclave. 

 

Pointe Vicente is a development of homes built in the 1960’s that extends along the hillsides on the East side of Palos Verdes Drive West.  Many homes here have 180-degree ocean views, yet are affordable by Palos Verdes standards. Also located in this development is Point Vicente Elementary School. 

 

On the west side of Palos Verdes Drive are two new upscale developments of opulent estates set on a sprawling 132 acres of spectacular coastline.  The developers embraced the area with sensitivity to the site’s relationship with nature and they maintained the views and public access to the bluff.  Oceanfront’ built by Capital Pacific Holdings and ‘The Enclave’ a Warmington Homes project, were each built at the turn of the 21st century.  The two side-by-side developments have 79 beautiful Mediterranean style homes sitting on lots ranging from one-half to three-quarters of an acre. The master planned community has sixty-six acres of open space that includes a public walking trail along the bluff.  The D’Amico Team has a unique relationship to this development, as it was the on-site sales team for Oceanfront from 2002 until it was completely sold out in 2006. Lunada Pointe, located along the ocean bluff west of Palos Verdes Drive and north of Oceanfront Estates, is an exclusive area of large, luxury, custom homes.  These homes, on Marguerite Drive, are a rare find in Southern California as they are situated on large parcels of land along the Pacific Ocean cliffs. The architectural style of these homes varies from contemporary to Mediterranean with prices starting at $2,500,000. This area had been owned by the Berry family who also once owned much of the land above Palos Verdes Drive West around Berry Hill Road and the Point Vicente Tract. Marguerite Drive is named for Marguerite Berry who lived in a home along Palos Verdes Drive West.  Laurel Drive is named after her daughter.

 

The Golden Cove Shopping Center is located at the corner of Hawthorne Boulevard and Palos Verdes Drive. The restaurants and coffee shops located there are neighborhood favorites. Other services located there include a convenience store, gas station, cleaners, and a new Trader Joe’s  Market is under construction. A private Montessori school (Peninsula Montessori) shares the site.

 

          The Palos Verdes Peninsula School District schools attended by the children of this neighborhood are Point Vicente Elementary School, Palos Verdes Intermediate School and either Palos Verdes Peninsula High School or Palos Verdes High School
