RANCHO PALOS VERDES
Palos Verdes Drive East and Miraleste (167)

The East side of Palos Verdes, also known as Miraleste, borders the city of Rolling Hills on the West and the Eastview section of Rancho Palos Verdes and San Pedro on the East.  This region is a mixture of equestrian properties and small subdivisions. It is also home to the historic “red tile roof” area known as Miraleste. Many properties have great Los Angeles Harbor and City Light views.

The Miraleste area was the first section developed on the east side of Palos Verdes and is still under the jurisdiction of the Palos Verdes Art Jury. This small area includes Miraleste Drive, Via Colinita, Nancy and Lorraine Roads, Via Siena and Via Lorenzo, Via Canada and Via De Anzar, Via Frascati and Via Subida, and a few others. Some of the homes date back to as early as the 1930’s. The architecture in this neighborhood typically has a Spanish or Mediterranean feel and all buildings must have red tile roofs. The Miraleste community has a small commercial plaza that boasts one of the oldest Los Angeles County Fire Companies as well as convenient businesses. The Palos Verdes Library also has a branch here.

Miraleste Intermediate School and Miraleste Early Learning Academy, two of Palos Verdes’ most picturesque schools, are located adjacent to the Miraleste Plaza. In addition to attending these Palos Verdes Peninsula School District schools, the children of this neighborhood also attend Mira Catalina Elementary School and have a choice of attending either Palos Verdes High School or Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Rolling Hills Preparatory School, a private 6-12 preparatory school in San Pedro is very close to this neighborhood as well..

During the mid-century era, developers subdivided large tracts of land into building lots on the east side of Palos Verdes.  Rockinghorse Road, Sunnyside Ridge, Larga Vista, and Colt Road are just a couple of those areas.  La Vista Verde, also developed during that time, is a small private neighborhood. Later subdivisions include Miraleste Hills that has somewhat newer, larger, custom homes with expansive unobstructed harbor and city light views and a small tract of family sized homes on Rue Le Charlene built in 1967.

Although there are no condominiums in this area, there are opportunities to find affordable condos on the Miraleste-San Pedro border.  Miraleste Pines is the townhouse project directly adjacent to the Miraleste area.

The 110 Harbor Freeway and the Vincent Thomas Bridge are in close proximity to the homes in this area and offer a relatively convenient commute to Long Beach or Downtown Los Angeles.  Miraleste is conveniently located near the commercial areas along Western Avenue in San Pedro.

The homes in this area range in price from $750,000 to $3,000,000.

Miraleste and the neighborhoods along Palos Verdes Drive East hold ownership opportunities for both modest and large homes with great harbor views.  Looking for Palos Verdes Real Estate with a Miraleste Realtor will allow you to find the best of what is available so you can explore your options whether you are a first time buyer who loves this great community and all that the Palos Verdes School District has to offer, or if you are looking for you dream estate on the California Coast.
